The N° 4 extends considerably, with an extension of 23 inches (60 centimeters) for the half-plate version. The N° 4 is available only in half-plate or full-plate sizes and comes with an ash wood tripod.
The N° 4a comes with a maple wood tripod and is available in quarter-plate, half-plate, and full-plate sizes.
The N° 5 has a higher level of finish with brass metal parts. The N° 8 and N° 9 are identical to the 4 and 5, but mahogany is replaced by teak.
